Asana 8 :

 

Gomukhasana

 

Starting position—Sit in the normal manner    on a carpet, stretching legs in front.

 

1.           Put right leg folded under the left thigh, putting foot near the left buttocks.

2.           Left leg will be over  the right thigh. Put the foot near the right buttocks.

3.           Put the right hand from behind on the back.

4.           Put the left hand over the left should on the back and join the palms. Final position.

5.           Remove the left hand.

6.           Remove the right hand.

7.           Move the left leg in the front and stretch it in the fount.

8.           Stretch the right leg in the front an come to the sides in the normal manner. (This Asana is used for reading scriptures and chanting prayers. Keeping the hands free.)

This Asana may be practiced for 5 minutes.

In the ailment of scrotum, it should be lifted up before the leg covers the thigh of the other leg.

 

 

Benefits

 

Similar to those of Padmasana. Strengthens the muscles of shoulders, things and calves. Corrects shoulders deformities and ailments. Helps in correcting hydrocele. Corrects ailments of abdomen, back, as they get stretched.
