Padmasan

 

Sitting position—(Sit down with legs stretched in front keeping hands on the ground near the hips.)

 

1.                 Put the right keg on the left thigh near the groin, the heel touching the abdomen.

2.                 Put the left leg in the same manner on the right thigh.

3.                 Rest the hands on the feet keeping the palms up and the thumb touching the forefinger.

4.                 Look at the chest, inhale and stretch the chest . (Adbomen should be drawn in.) final popsition.

5.                 Exhale and relax the chest.

6.                 Move the hands in original position.

7.                 hold the left leg and make it straight.

8.                 Get to the original position.

 

Practis this by putting the left leg on the right thigh first. Do deep breathing when in ordinary as well as in Padmasan position.

(Deep breathing by inhaling and exhaling, breath through nostrils slowly).

 

Benefits—Gives relaxation, purity, sublimity to mind. Improves memory. Makes the spinal column flexible, improves digestion, expands chest, corrects ailments of heart and mind, corrects arthritis, helps in celibacy, strengthens lungs and adds to sublimity of mind.
